Matt Playing with Duncan

Matt plays with Duncan also. There's more petting and less tug-of-war'ing

Somehow Duncan knows the difference between his and the kids' toys. The boys don't necessarily have that insight yet.

For the record, the moose had just been washed.

Trip to the Aquarium: Now with the ability to follow moving objects!

So we hit the break-even point on our Aquarium season passes by going again last weekend. This time we were smart enough to forgo the stroller, and go earlier in the day so it wasn't so crowded.

The boys are much more aware of the world around them than they were last time, so it was fun to watch them watch the fish. Ben was especially funny as he kept trying to reach out and touch the jellyfish. Some pictures and notes below

The birds were also a bit more lively than they were last time we were there. Here Jess and I are either facinating the boys with the pretty colorful birds or scaring them for life with the time the birds tried to eat Mom and Dad's hands.

Shawn: ...and a shark's skeleton is made entirely of cartilege...
Ben: The tag on my bib is fun to chew on!

Look! Fish!

Cheerio Confusion

So this weekend we tried the next step up from baby food, and that means Cheerios. I put a few individual O's on each of the boys high chair trays. They both looked at me blankly. Ben didn't even try to put any in his mouth, and he puts *everything* in his mouth. So we figured lets go and get each of them a whole *bowl* of Cheerios. Thinking maybe that if presented with enough of them they'd eventually try to put them in their mouths. Here is the result.

Apparently tupperwear is the most interesting thing about eating cereal.

Six Month Pictures

Here's a sample of the boys six month pictures. Click through for larger versions. These were taken the day Ben got his splint put on, and my photoshop skills aren't good enought to take it out.

Toothbrushing is Fun!, originally uploaded by wetzel9.

So now that Ben has his first tooth we've added toothbrushing to the nightly routine. The boys mostly see it as a opportunity to make faces in the bathroom mirror.

And This Was a Good Day

Ben and the peas are not exactly simpatico. When viewed large, you can see it was in both his nose and on his eyelids. Cleaning it off his eyelids is not a fun task. Or his ears.

Matthew has a tooth!

Despite many attempts, we haven't been able to photograph it yet - his tongue keeps getting in the way. His lower front left tooth has come in and it looks like the lower right front tooth isn't too far behind.

The Corruption Begins

Uncle Mike and Aunt Shannon were in for the weekend. They took the opportunity to try and convert the boys over to the dark side

Underwater

Here's how the boys react to going underwater. This isn't the first time for either, but is pretty typical of their respective reactions so far.

Matt: Meh, no biggie.

Ben: "What are you *doing*?"

Wow. Just Wow.

Wow. Just Wow., originally uploaded by wetzel9.

OK, so I'm not sure where he goes from here. I don' t see how he can top this one.

Maybe he thought I was going to feed him green beans again and wanted to make sure there was no physical way anything else could fit in his mouth.

Our First Swim

They weren't big fans of going under water, but otherwise
did really well. They are learning how to kick, float on their
backs and jump in from the side of the pool (with help, of
course). Before we know it they'll be swimming laps!
